Bill Dale

July 17, 1922 ~ August 26, 1999
His family includes his wife of 55 years, Judy, son Bill and his family, Phyllis, Aaron and Will of Nashville, TN, and son Ron and his family, Chris, Gray, Gabrielle and Paul, of Oxford, MS.
Bill, the third of seven children born to Fred Dale and Agnes Washburn Dale, grew up in Spruce Pine. He attended North Carolina State University and Appalachian State University before serving in the South Pacific during World War II. Bill moved his family to Asheville in 1951 where he worked as parts manager for Harry’s Cadillac for 40 years and at Deal Buick after his retirement.
Bill’s living siblings include Jim Dale, Guy Dale and Ruth Uphold of Spruce Pine, Daniel Dale of Seneca, SC, and David Dale of Bakersville. His sister, Evelyn Stapleton preceded him in death.
Bill was a devoted and
loving husband and a caring gentle father and grandfather who loved his family, church and friends. His generous spirit and keen wit
touched the lives of many.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions may be made to Andean Rural Health, PO Box 216, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745, or the Parkinson’s Foundation, 122 42nd Street, NY, NY 10017.
The family expresses their
gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from their friends and church.
A memorial service and reception will be held at 1:00 pm
Saturday at First Baptist Church of Asheville.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.

In knowing the son, Bill, I knew that he had been reared by a caring, well educated family. My prayers are with the family.

Bill and Phyllis, I was not in the office so I didn’t get the word. Larry and I are thinking of you during this tough time, but we are also celebrating the life of one who brought Bill the Younger into our lives. Mrs. Dale, our thoughts are with you, too.
