Ruthie was my cousin and, even though we had lost touch, she was always dear to my heart. As for her singing, Pablo Casals said it best, ‘You have a gift!’ I hope she’s now singing with Sara Beth in heaven.
I will always remember Ruth with her rosy cheeks and shining face. She was an inspiration and she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and family.
I went to Syracuse University with Ruth, and remember her fondly as a vibrant and exiciting person. Ruth was always smiling, and seemed to take great pleasure in experiencing all that life had to offer. She had strong convictions, and a zest that made her an unforgettable person. In one class, I had the pleasure of watching a video of an aria from an opera Ruth performed in. It was wonderful, and unbelievable that a voice like that could emanate from such a tiny person. God’s choir must have welcomed her with open arms, and I am sure that God himself smiled when he heard her sing. I know how much she cared about her roommates as she spoke of them often. I lost my sister to cancer a few short years ago, and can understand the awful feeling of emptiness when someone you love dies, especially from the ravages of cancer. God bless you Ruth!
We (my husband, Richard and I)went to Syracuse University with Ruthie. We graduated together in the spring of ’98 and we have wonderful memories of Ruth: Always cheerful, spunky, and ready to take on the world. The void left by her passing is felt by everyone whose life she touched. God bless you all.
The ripples of your touch are far reaching.
You brought much joy to many.
I am deeply saddened to hear of Ruth’s passing. I met Ruth at Syracuse as I was one of the many classmates who enjoyed her-so much. I always enjoyed coming to Syracuse and seeing her smile and feeling her energy. The air was always lighter when Ruth was around. I will miss her. She was a truly a gem.
I am so deeply saddened to hear of Ruth’s passsing.
I think of her wonderful zest and passion for whatever
she chose to embark upon. She enjoyed life so much
and taught others what was truly important. I
shall never forger her. I feel fortunate to have known
Ruth. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I send my most sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Ruth’s family and friends. Having been a great fan of Ruth’s since I first heard her as Oscar in ‘A Masked Ball’ back in 1978, I find her untimely death deeply shocking and very sad. God bless this wonderful lady. She touched the lives of so many, even those of us in the far reaches of the upper balconies. Ruth, we miss you and love you.
I was a student at Syracuse University with Ruth. I really enjoyed getting to know her, and truly missed her when she graduated and left Syracuse. I know that many of us got a kick out of hearing that Southern accent of hers, and couldn’t believe that she sang opera! That disbelief was shattered when I saw a video of Ruth singing in an opera, I was in awe. What a beautiful voice, what a lovely person.
I am deeply saddened by Ruth’s passing. She took several of my classes at Syracuse, and I enjoyed having her as a student so very much. She was a delight to know. I had always told her that I would hear her sing one day, but I guess it will now have to be on tape. I will continue to remember her fondly. She was a wonderful person.
