Mrs. Jacokes was a former resident of Malvern Hills and was married to Dr. J. Warner Jacokes, who died in 1979. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Jacokes, and a granddaughter, Debra Elizabeth Jones.
She was a 1932 graduate of Trinity College in Washington, DC, and was a former employee of American Enka and Bon Marche Department Store. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America and a former member of the Chatmore Club. Mrs. Jacokes was also a former director of the Buncombe County Heart Fund.
She is survived by two daughters, Dottie Jones and her husband David of Stafford, VA, and Peggy Lyon of Norman, OK; five grandsons, Kevin Jones of Athens, GA, Christopher Jones of Stafford, Thomas and David Lyon of Dallas, TX, and James Lyonfields of Baldwin, MO; and three great-grandchildren, Aja, Jacob, and Thomas Lyonfields.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
