Bobby Joe West

Bobby Joe West, 64, of 23 Wood Avenue, Asheville, died Thursday, September 28, 2000 in a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Gleen and Lelia Stafford West. He was a retired employee of Sayles Biltmore Bleacheries and later employed at Advance Auto Parts. Mr. West was a member of the Asheville Elks Lodge #608. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Jean West and her husband Harry of Statesville, Dorthea Phillips of Asheville; a brother, Calvin West and his wife Jeannetta of Asheville; his long time companion, Betty J. Riddle; six nieces and four nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Reverend Earl King will officiate with burial following in Woodlawn Cemetery. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Saturday at the funeral home.
