Nellie James Warren, 88, formerly of Pisgah Highway, Candler, our beloved mother, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 30, 2000, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Center.

Mrs. Warren was born in Newport, TN and was a daughter of the late William Henry and Bonnie Kate Rutherford James. She had lived in Buncombe County since 1928 and she was married to the late Roy M. Warren. She was also preceded in death by four sons, Clifton, Joseph, Dane and James Warren. She was a member at Hominy Valley Independent Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Barbara Briggs of Biltmore, Londa Young of Candler and Glenda Hoglen of Leicester; five sons, Delon R. Warren, Denlow Warren, Rollins R. Warren, Lonnie R. Warren, and Vaughn M. Warren, all of Candler; two sisters, Ruth Byrd of Newport, TN and Bessie Wilson of Morristown, TN; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Revs. Austin Watts, Ed Worley, H.D. Houck and Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mrs. Warren will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. At other times the family will be at 50 Briggs Drive, Candler.
