Lawrence B. Clark, Sr.

LAWRENCE B. CLARK, SR. Lawrence Burton Clark, Sr., 85, of 12 Powell Street died Saturday, December 9, 2000, at a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Oscar and Jessie Green Clark. He was a carpenter and home builder and a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Henson and two brothers, Lowell and Lewis Clark. He is survived by his wife, Hettie Lane Clark, two daughters, Ruth Smith of Leicester and Jean Moore of Fletcher; a son, Lawrence B. Clark, Jr. of Asheville; three sisters, Juanita Smith of Fairview, Ruby Lott of Jacksonville, FL and Pauline McCarson of Candler; nine grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
