EMMA C. THOMAS Emma Clampett Thomas, 90, of 289-A Long Branch Road, Swannanoa, died Sunday, December 24, 2000. Mrs. Thomas was born in Swain County and was a daughter of the late Buck and Carolina Nations Clampett. She was married to James Carl Thomas who died in 1991. She was a former apartment manager and a member of Bee Tree Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are five daughters, Fair Ellen Deitz of Asheville, Marie Cordell of Enka, Jeri Hoffmier of Kingman, AZ, Joyce Merrigan of Lansing, MI, and Doris Seguin of Swannanoa; four sons, Bobby Stevens of Kings Mountain, James Ray Thomas of Norlina, NC, Richard Thomas of Weaverville, and Randall Thomas of Leicester; forty grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Bee Tree Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Carver and Jimmy Page officiating. Burial will be in Bee Tree Community Cemetery. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

  1. Emma Thomas was my Grandmother as well. I am Nellie’s daughter. Today is the 4th anniversary of her death. We continue to mourn her. My brothers and sister and I all loved her and she will continue to carry a special place in all of our hearts. Our Mom still mourns her as well. She is loved and missed bye the entire Deitz family.
