Asheville - Alice Bernard McLennan, 85, daughter of the late Marie DeLoffre Bernard and Colonel Thomas Pitcher Bernard, died at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center, Asheville, NC, December 28, 2000. She was a resident of Givens Estates.

She has been a resident of Asheville for 36 years and an accomplished needle work and china painting artist for most of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Colonel Donald G. McLennan, of Givens Estates, Asheville, NC; her sister, Francis B. Sampson of Baltimore, MD; daughters, Kathryn M. Goodrum of Charlotte, NC and Sandra M. Bowen of Newport News, VA; son, Donald G. McLennan, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church, in Fletcher NC, at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 1, 2001. The family will greet guests in the church parish hall immediately following the service.
