MARY ELIZABETH RAY
LEICESTER – Mary Elizabeth Ray, 71, of Dix Creek Two Road, Leicester, was called to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 7, 2010.
Mary, beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, loved the Lord, her family and her friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Boone and Cecilia Cook. Mary, wife of the late Lloyd Ray, daughter of the late Fred and Mamie West was also preceded in death by her three brothers, James, Carlis and William Matthews. Mary was an adored grandmother of Aaron Ellzey, Crystal Ellzey and Charlie Cook, and loving step-grandmother of Tate Ellzey, Tyler and Lyndsie Boone. She had "4" cherished great-grandchildren, Colby Sexton, Alijah Stamey, Noah and Mason Ellzey.
Mary was a homemaker for many years and worked outside of the home after her daughters were grown. She was a genuinely kind person who always had a smile on her face, never met a stranger and supported charities. Most of her life she happily cared for family members, relatives, and visited shut-in friends. She found peace reading the Bible daily, loved spreading the word of the Lord and meeting new friends. She also enjoyed "working" puzzles, reading or watching a good mystery, religious programming and traveling.
Mom is deeply loved and missed but we find peace knowing she is very excited to be with Jesus on his birthday and live in her mansion in the sky. A celebration of life service will be held this coming Sunday, December 19, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. in the Solace Chapel, with Reverend Charlene Galvin officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to J. F. Keever Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I had the pleasure of getting to know your Mom at Pisgah Manor. She always wore a smile so gracefully through all the pain. She will be missed greatly. My love to you Pat for being there for her.
