Ruby Burress Saunders, 89, of Candler, the beloved mother of Patricia Crook and Marcia Howell went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2001.
A native of Haywood County she spent most of her life in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Boyce B. and Mary Etta Mann Burress. She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Vincent M. Crook who died in 1965, grandson, Joey Warren, three brothers, Louie, J.T., and Lewis Burress and two sisters, Josephine
Evans and Ruth Smith. She was a retired employee of American Enka Corp. with 44 years of service and was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her daughters she is survived by her husband, Webb B. Saunders; step-children, Sandra Sider, William Saunders and John Saunders; six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Green Hills Cemetery. Revs. Dennis Thurman and
Charlie Sams will officiate.
Her family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue is in charge of arrangements.
Hey Clipper, I was saddened to hear of your Mother’s passing, but you know she is with Jesus now and has no more pain or worries. We have been through and shared so much since our very special friendship began living in ‘the village’. Ruby was always so much a part of it all.
