Edna Stowe

Edna Banks Stowe, 81, of Old Leicester Highway, died on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Emerald Ridge Rehab and Care Center. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Samuel Jackson and Malinda Lunsford Banks. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Walter "Bud" Stowe, who died last year; and her brothers, Manuel William, Earnest, and Bennie Banks. Mrs. Stowe was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Stowe is survived by her daughter, Joan Taylor and husband Scott, of Efland; her son, Walter Bruce Stowe and wife Irene, of Pisgah Forest; sisters, Lura Lee Corn, and Barbara Phillips and husband Howard; brothers, Howard Banks and wife Carolyn, Dewey Banks and wife Barbara, and Jackie Banks and wife Judy; grandchildren, Christopher and Stacey Stowe, Bethany and Bobby Martin, Bryan Stowe and wife Sissy, and Shelby Taylor; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Stowe will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Victory Baptist Church with the Revs. Mark Chase and Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
