Ada Grogan Hipps

Ada Grogan Hipps, 97, of 927 Cedar Hill Road, Asheville, was promoted to glory Sunday, June 2, 2002, in a local medical center. Mrs. Hipps was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Rev. Holland and Sally Robinson Grogan. She was married to Walter H. Hipps, Sr., who died in 1979 and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Violet Hipps Scott. She was a member of Biltmore Holiness Temple. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Sue Hensley, Louise Quakenbush and Joyce Smith of Asheville and Nancy Creasman of Lexington, SC; three sons, Walter H. Hipps, Jr. and Billy E. Hipps of Asheville and James H. Hipps of Romney, WV; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Wes Sharpe, the Rev. Ralph Sexton, Sr., and Dr. Steve Quakenbush officiating. Burial will be at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 pm Tuesday the funeral home.
