Alex William Medford, 82, of Candler, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at StoneCreek Health and Rehab Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Herman and Carrie Peebles Medford. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Wheeler Medford, who died in 1999; a sister, Gladys Roberts; and brothers Pruitt, Willard, and Richard Medford.
Mr. Medford was retired from American Enka after 44 years. He was a member of White Rock Baptist Church.
He is survived by a brother, Dennis Medford and wife Juanita, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Im was sadden to here about Alex passing he was always a pleasure to talk to. He came in burgerland just about everyday telling us tails and bringing us stuff out of his garden.He always had s smile on his face.He will be greatly missed.

I had the honor of being Mr. Medford’s nurse for the last 7 years. He was always so sweet when he would come into the office, and there was never a time he didn’t have a smile on his face.
Rest with the angels sweet Alex, you will be missed.
