Alga Bryant Harris, 73, of 505 Wilson Avenue, Swannanoa, died Monday,
September 21, 1998, at St. Joseph Hospital.
Mrs. Harris was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Handy and
Laura Trantham Bryant. She was married to Marvin Harris who died in 1988, and she
was retired from Morgan Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Chestnut Grove
Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Laura Hensley of Swannanoa; two sons, Ronald Harris
of Fairview and Donald Harris of Oteen; six sisters, Mae Liberatore of Chicago, Eula
Surrett, Shirley Boyle, and Edith Clark of Leicester, Louise Capps of Weaverville, and
Ruby Fender of South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Edith Bryant of Asheville and Lizzie
Moore of Rutherfordton; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Cane Creek Baptist Church, Lake
Lure, with the Revs. Norris Wright and James Lamb officiating. Burial will be in the
church cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home.
