Alice S. Ledford, 89, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at Park Ridge Hospital. Alice was a native of Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late John and Hetty Searcy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edgar Ledford; her brother, Walter Searcy and a sister, Mary Searcy. Alice was a life long member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Lippard and her husband, Mike; son, Kenneth Ledford and his wife, Tonya, all of Fairview; sisters, Lena Brooks of Black Mountain, Edith Worsham of Fletcher and Nancy Searcy of Fairview; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2014, in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 435 Brush Creek Road, Fairview, NC 28730.
