Alvin Dewey Green, 86, of Alexander, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Alvin was born on July 28, 1938, to the late George Richard and Lily Robeson Green. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Linton Green and Gregg Green; and sisters, Alda Huntley and Gail Green.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Carolyn Bridges Green; son, Glenn Richard Green (Janet); daughters, Christy Green Bryant (Steve), Monica Green Plemmons (Travis), and Dorothy Green Williams (Scott); grandchildren, Bryson Plemmons, Ayden Plemmons, Sarah Sawyer (Brandon), Hannah Cantrell (Mitchell), Jeremy Williams, and Ashley McMahon (Nick); great-grandchildren, Ava and Audrey Sawyer, and Lauren and Lydia Cantrell; sisters, Virginia Wilson and Mae Elliott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alvin was a lifelong resident of Buncombe Co. Throughout his years, he worked various jobs and made lots of friends. Alvin never met a stranger. He was a member of Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Though wild in his younger days, Alvin grew into a family man who enjoyed fishing and camping at Lake Douglas, watching his grandchildren grow and spending time with his loving wife.

The family would like to thank Four Seasons Hospice for all of their compassion and care during the past few months. Special appreciation to Beth Richard, RN, Beth T., RN, and Donnie Bledsoe, FNP, for all of their support to Alvin and the family.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Mt. Sheba Baptist Church. Pastor Steve Rhinehart, Mr. Mark Elliott, and Pastor Mike Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Sheba Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 870 New Stock Rd., Weaverville, NC 28787.
