Andrew Gordon Martin

Andrew Gordon Martin, 57, passed away on August 2, 2022, at Hospital Clinica Biblical in San Jose, Costa Rica after a brief illness.

Andy was born September 30, 1964, in Asheville to Sandra W. Martin and the late Harry N. Martin Jr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sophie of San Jose, his sister, Nancy Busic (Jack), and sister-in-law Charlene Martin. There are also 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and one great nephew. He is preceded in death by his father, brothers Butch and Stuart Martin.

Andy attended Western Carolina University and was a veteran of the United States Navy where he was an Air traffic controller. He also worked as one for the FAA for 25 years before retiring. He started his career in Fort Pierce, Fl, working his way up to larger airports: Florence, SC, Birmingham, AL, Memphis TN, and finally Los Angeles, CA.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and bike riding.

A private interment service will be held at Lewis Memorial Park with a celebration of life service following on Tuesday, August 30 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, Asheville. Visitation with the family will be held immediately after the service.
