Anna Gertrude Higgins

Anna Gertrude Higgins, 86 years old, passed away on Saturday, June 10th, 2017, at Givens Health Center. Born in Philadelphia on July 30th, 1930; Ann has lived in Asheville for over 30 years. She was a long time and committed member of New Hope Presbyterian Church as well as an honorary member of Mission Hospital for contributing over 10,000 service hours. Ann also served several years as an associate pastor at Mission Hospital. She was an avid baker, sewer, and all around crafty woman. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bill Higgins of Asheville, two sons, Billy Higgins of Baraboo, WI and Gregg Higgins of Hinesville, GA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held for Anna on Friday, July 21st, 2017 at 10:00 AM at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 3070 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC. The Reverend Kim Wells will officiate. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Presbyterian Church Outreach Fund, 3070 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
