Annie Truxell

annie truxell
Well known American surrealist painter Annie Truxell passed away Wednesday, July 22 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center. A native of Pennsylvania who traveled extensively and lived on the island of Mallorca in Spain for 30 years, Annie had lived in West Asheville since 2008. She started her career amid luminaries in the Greenwich Village art scene in the 1950s, moved on to Europe where her art was shown extensively and lived, among other places, in India, London and NYC's famed Chelsea Hotel. She was preceded in death by her long time companion the writer Jakov Lind. A noted raconteur, Annie's wit and joie de vivre is sorely missed by her many devoted friends and nephew, Francis "Bill" Green, niece, Felicity Green, great-niece, Audrey Kanapaux and great-nephew, Miles Green, all of West Asheville; nephew, Nat Green, of Los Angeles and step-daughter Oona Lind Napier of Deia, Mallorca, Spain. There will be a short informal service at the Patton Ave. location of Groce Funeral Home on Friday, July 31 at 3:00 p.m. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
