Arthur Lockwood Robinson, 92, passed on to be with
the Lord Sunday, April 30, 2000, at the Hospice Solace Center after a period of declining health.
Mr. Robinson will always be remembered by his good humor and love for those around him. He
was born May 14, 1907, in Buncombe County, where he was a lifelong resident. He was a son of the late Columbus Bulow and Addie Eudora Herren Robinson and was also preceded in death by his
beloved wife, Sally Griffin Robinson, his sister, Audrey McFee, and brothers Ervin Robinson, Floyd
Robinson, and Harold Robinson.
He was a retired employee of American Enka Corporation with 41 years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are four sisters, Mildred Danford of Des Moines, Iowa, Elouise C. Huffman of Candler, Thelma Davis of Asheville, and Genevieve Daniels of Asheville; a brother, Clyde Robinson of
Clarinda, Iowa; a special nephew Lt. Col. James C. McGlasson of Alexandria, VA, and a number of
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Perry Miller officiating. Burial will be at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Nephews will be pallbearers.
His family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
