Arthur Pern Wright

Arthur Pern Wright, 98, of 61 Stoney Knob Road, Weaverville, died Saturday, January 2, 1999 at his residence.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Pinkney A. and Rachael Ford Wright and husband of the late Edith Wilson Wright who died in 1996. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Leilla Wright and Grace W. Clark and two brothers, Burgin Wright and Frank Wright.
Mr. Wright was a member of Elkwood United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Carolina Power & Light with 38 years service as a line and service distribution supervisor. He was a member for 65 years of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a recipient the Edison Electrical Institute Award for saving an individual's life in 1945. He was a former resident of Youngstown, Ohio, working for the Carnegie Steel Mill.
He is survived by two sisters, Macie Duyck and Viola Owen of Asheville; three brothers, Fred Wright of Weaverville, Roy Wright of Canton, Claude Wright of Asheville; a step-sister, Earnestine Cole of Asheville and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am Monday in the mausoleum of Ashelawn Gardens of Memory conducted by the Rev. Edna Riggs. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
