Awa Loretta Drake Gaudet

Awa Loretta Drake Gaudet, 96, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Madison Co., Awa was the daughter of the late Rev. Charles E. and Vennie Radford Drake. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Louis Gaudet, and brother, Willard Kenneth Drake (Rose). Mrs. Gaudet is survived by her daughters, Brenda Peterson, of Asheville, and Linda Shelton, of Commerce, GA; grandchildren, Rhonda Griffin (Paul), Traci Crawford (Dennis), and Chris Shelton; great-grandchildren, Emma Staton (Marshall), Addie Dechant, Katie Gibson (Tim), and Colby Crawford; and several nieces and nephews. The graveside service for Mrs. Gaudet will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Thurman officiating. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
