Barbara Ann McDonald, 64, of Arden, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Furman A. Williams, Sr. and Gladys Smith Williams. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Eva Mae Meece and two brothers, Ted and Melvin Williams.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard A. McDonald, Sr.; two sons, Ricky McDonald and his girlfriend, Annette Price and Brian McDonald and his wife, Debra, all of Arden; a sister, Imogene Helms of Gibsonville, NC; four brothers, Furman Williams, Jr., George Williams, Clarence Williams and James Williams, all of Asheville; two grandchildren, Brittany and Brooke McDonald; several nieces and nephews and her canine companion, "Jackie".
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 23, 2010 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Avery's Creek Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the funeral home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in Barbara's memory to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
I am so sorry for your loss and mine. She was a great aunt to me as well as a wife and mom, and grandma to all of you. I am glad she is in no more pain and she is now with Mom. I am here anytime if you all need someone to talk to.

To the McDonald family, I want you to know that I am truly sorry for your loss. I lived in Elsie Fowlers trailer park when you all lived there and I know Deb from working with her at the hospital..I know its hard to lose a parent, i lost my mom, but we have hope of seeing them again in Heaven as long as we know Jesus and what a day that will be…our loved ones gone before us will be showing us around the streets of Glory..love you…and prayers to.

We are all so sorry for your loss. Our family has so many great memories of Barbara and all of your family from the many years at the ball fields watching all our kids grow. I will always have the memories of Barbara sitting at the park watching all the kids play ball and her bright smile cheering all of us along.
