Barbara Jean Hipps Davis, 76, passed from this life on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, to be with her Heavenly Father.
She was originally from Starnes Cove, Asheville, N.C., and attended Sand Hill High School where she was a star player on the basketball team. There she met her husband of nearly 60 years, John M. Davis. They lived the last 35 years in Richmond, Va.
Preceding her in death were her father, Roy M. Hipps and brother, Jack Hipps, both of Asheville.
She is survived by her husband, John M. Davis; her mother, Hazel Hipps of Fairview, N.C.; children, Johnnie Davis, Chuck Davis, Ken Davis and Krishna Moore, along with their spouses, all of Richmond; grandchildren, Kate Davis, Kiel Davis, Michael Davis, Brent Moore, McKennah Moore and Madyson Moore; sister, Evelyn Bagley and her husband of Boca Raton, Fla.; sister-in-law, Rachel Hipps, of Asheville; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She will be greatly missed and has left her loved ones many beautiful memories, for she nurtured all the lives she touched.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 277 Oak Hill Road, Candler, N.C.
