Asheville Butterfly TrailBerta Alice Springer, 87, of Asheville, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., Ms. Springer was a daughter of the late Fred and Lula Rector Springer.
Ms. Springer worked for BellSouth Services for over 41 years. She was a huge Carolina Tar Heel basketball fan.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, at the Tunnel Road chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Cash officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emma United Methodist Church, 55 Adams Hill Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

Ms Berta was a very special friend and I loved her dearly and will miss her always.
Berta was one of a kind. I worked with her in Telephone Pioneers and am so glad I had the opportunity to know her.
I loved visiting with Berta at the hairdresser! Such a funny and feisty lady! Will definitely miss her!
I have wonderful memories of Berta. Her friendship meant a lot to me. (Only Berta could go swimming and never get her hair wet!)
