Bertha Lee Clubb Ballard, 75, of Warren Creek Rd., Candler, died on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Laurels of Hendersonville. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Ballard was the daughter of the late Carl William and Cartie Shepherd Clubb. She had retired from American Enka, where she worked as a spinner. Mrs. Ballard is survived by her daughters, Darlene Miller and husband Michael, and Anita Lockhart and husband Michael, all of Candler; son, Greg Ballard and fiancée Donna Ledford, of Fairview; lifetime sister-in-law and best friend, Ethel Penley and her family; grandchildren, Tammy Letterman Fletcher, Jason Letterman, Johnny and Felisha Morgan, Dalton Lockhart, Danyelle and Charles Creasman, V; and three great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hailey Fletcher, and Mia Morgan. A funeral service for Mrs. Ballard will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave with the Rev. Chuck Evans officiating. Interment will follow at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to White Rock Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1277, Candler, NC 28715.

    I just adored her so much & always loved talking w/her when she came in monthly to pay her insurance. My husband was a dialysis patient & going thru it @ the time she was so I so understood and worried about her after her treatments. She would always ask about him…there wasnt a sweeter lady that lived! Please know you have my prayers and help in any way possible.

  4. Darlene Anita & Family, I was sorry to hear of the passing of one of my favorite cousins. We had so much fun together when we were growing up. I did not get the news untill after the funeral was over. Please know that Richard and I are praying for you And we love you.

  5. To the family of Bertha Lee. I will always remember the Clubb family they bought many of grocerys from my fathers store London’s grocery. I loved that whole family.I still have the home place on Morgan’s branch. I have moved to TN on the lake but still in candler the most.I have met a Wonderful man.I know you all miss Bertha Lee and I will remember you all in my prayers.
