Betty Burrell Dotson, 72, of Asheville, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family. Born in McDowell County to the late Troy and Georgia Creasman Burrell, she was office manager with Dunhams Sales and Service and a member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband B. Dwight Dotson. Survivors include one son, Brian Dwight Dotson (Tina), and one daughter, Sandy Dotson Battle (Willie) all of Asheville; four grandchildren, Ryan Morton, Jessica, Josh and Jenna Dotson, all of Asheville; one brother Jim Burrell of Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters, Brenda Joyner of Fairview and Edith Croom of Spartanburg, SC. Mrs. Dotson enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flower garden, and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildrens ballgames and activities. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church. Rev. Stacey Harris and Rev. Jeffrey Hudson will officiate and burial will follow at Gashes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road.
