Betty Deitz Queen, 91, went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 26, 2021.

Mrs. Queen was a native of Jackson Co. and a resident of Buncombe Co. for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Martin L. and Dessie Cogdill Deitz. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Fred Queen, who died in 1996; brother, Ray Deitz; and sisters, Ruby Shoemaker and Ruth Francis.

Mrs. Queen retired from American Enka in 1981, and she was a member of White Rock Baptist Church. Betty was active in the Upper Hominy Fire Department as an Auxiliary member. She also volunteered at ABCCM and several food pantries.

Mrs. Queen is survived by many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She had a heart of gold and helped so many people throughout her life. She will always be remembered as Aunt Betty to all.

Betty also had a great love of reading, cooking, being with her family, and was known for her generosity. She had a kind, loving soul and will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

  4. Betty was a part of my life for 30 years as my stepmother and for the years since as a friend. We kept in touch through the years even though I live in CA, but always contacted her when I visited NC. She was a special caring lady and will certainly be missed!!!!!! Fly with the angels!!!!

  11. Ms. Betty was my parents neighbor. She was so good to my Mama when she went through her cancer battle, and so good to me and Daddy when we lost Mama. Then she was so good to me when Daddy got sick and we lost him. She was truly one of a kind, and a very loving, caring person. Her family are in my thoughts and prayers.
