Betty G. Shouppe Asheville, NC – Betty Grimes Shouppe, 76, of Asheville, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at her residence. A native of Mobile, AL, she was a daughter of the late Euby and Bessie Hall Grimes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jefferson Davis Shouppe, who died in 1990. Betty resided in Columbus, GA from 1965-1992, at which time she retired from the Civil Service at Fort Benning. After the death of her husband, Betty moved to Asheville to be near her daughter, Susan and her family. She lived the remainder of her life in the Asheville/Black Mountain area and was an active member of the Joanne Ownbey's Sunday School class at Biltmore Baptist Church. Betty also had many close friends from her association with Heart Path services. She is survived by two daughters, Treva Robinson and her husband, Gary, of Overland Park, KS and Susan Duncan and her husband, Dave, of Asheville; two sons, Dr. Phillip Shouppe and his wife, Sally, of Mobile, AL and Dr. Gary Shouppe and his wife, Mona, of Columbus, GA as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 13, 2009 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Betty's memory to a charity of one's choice.
