Asheville ~ Betty Jean Morgan Davis, 77, of 308 Overlook Road, died Sunday, August 15, 2004 in a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Carroll Morgan and Elizabeth Queen Morgan. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Davis, who died in 2000 and two sisters, Frances Morgan Baker and Helen Morgan Israel. Mrs. Davis retired from Thomson Financial in Boston, MA in 1993 and returned to Asheville. She was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Bill Davis of Falmouth, ME; three grandchildren, Madison & Morgan Davis, both of Falmouth, ME and CJ Davis of Antrim, NH. She is also survived by her former husband, Charles Davis, of Needham, MA. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Hominy Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Memorials may be made in her name to Berea College, College Relations, CPO 2216, Berea, KY 40404. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  1. Sincere thoughts and prayers for the family. I knew Betty and Charles when I was a student at Mars Hilll-then married and lived across the street from them.(I was Delois Harris and then married a Booth.) Was also sorry to learn of the death of Charles Jr. Both Betty Jean and Charles were a blessing to so many people. They definitely were to me. I am sorry I did not know Betty Jean was in the area. If possible I would like to get Charles Sr.’s address. Again, prayers nad condolences to the entire family. You were blessed with wonderful parents. Sincerely,
