Mrs. Betty Jean Jones, 88, of Asheville, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

Betty was a native of Buncombe Co., where she grew up in the west end neighborhood community. She was a daughter of the late Albert R. and Leathia Moser Lipe.

Betty served her life working in the laundry department at the Grove Park Inn and Hilton Inn. Once Betty retired, she devoted her time caring for her family. She was a very loved mother and grandmother.

Betty is survived by her loving daughter, Vivian Brown and husband Ricky, of Asheville; six grandchildren, Crystal Jones (Asheville), Joseph Jones (Asheville), Edward (Brandy) Lipe and Scottie (Fallon) Lipe of Canton, Ricky (Devonna) Brown and Tracey (Joey) Banks of Marion; and great-grand babies, Skyler and Brooklynn Brown, Tayler, Ryker, Rayne (Banks), Sadie Jones, Allie, Zack, Payton, Caleb and Micah (Lipe).

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Carroll Jones, daughter, Linda Jones, son, Edward (Butch) Lipe and a very loved grandson, Brandon Bridges.

On behalf of the Jones family, we would like to extend our gratitude for all the compassionate caregivers and staff that helped in Betty’s care. We would also like to give a special thanks to Christina.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10 at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.

  1. I am so very sorry for your loss. I am the granddaughter of Mary Lou Lipe Maynor and I have added three pictures to Betty’s timeline that I had in my family tree. I hope they will bring back some good memories of Betty. She was the last of the 16 Lipe siblings and I am sure they are all together again today in heaven with their parents. My mother, Ann, would like to send her condolences as well.
