Betty Louise Ledbetter Wilson, 89, passed away at her home on Tuesday on January 25, 2022.

A native of Buncombe Co., Betty was a daughter of the late William Shafter and Dessie Lola Hensley Ledbetter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ray Junior Wilson; sisters, Lorraine Giles, Doris Praytor, Faye Jump; and brothers, Jack, Glenn, and Billy Ledbetter.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her daughter, Dianna Mashburn (Carroll), of Leicester; son, Jackie Wilson, of the home; one sister, Martha Chambley; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Stephanie, Amber, Brandon, and Filicia; and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. The Revs. Perry and Terry Burke will officiate. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, at 2:00 p.m.

Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday night at the funeral home.

Her family gives special thanks to her caregivers: Joni Rhodarmer and Crystal Montgomery.

My wonderful precious Aunt Betty I love you and will never forget you you are a lot in my life always tried to teach me right from wrong forever missed by your family never forgotten always in our hearts when I first got saved I remember saying to the Lord I sure would like to feel like her and I did when God filled her cup it ran over I will ever love you with all my heart you’re with Mama Aunt Faye Aunt Lorraine and all your brothers and Papa and Granny love you dearly as my mama said till my last breath God bless all the family in this trying time

You were like mine and Jackie’s extra brother, even tho we were first cousins you were more like our brother, and the good times we’ve had cannot be compared to. Love you always- and as mama would say “I love you more than you’ll ever know!”❤️

  9. “If I can help somebody”….the song she sang, the life she led! What a great example of Loving the Lord with all your heart Ms. Betty lived before us. Don and I will always remember the joyful uplifting visits we had with her. The sweet phone conversations I was blessed to be a part of. We loved her dearly. The sweet family she shared with us and the talent she and your Daddy nurtured within the family. What rejoicing she is experiencing! I know the loss is painful, but the joy of knowing you will see her again, in the presences of our Heavenly Father, comforts you in a mighty way. We will be praying for all of your family.
