Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Betty was a wonderful friend to my mother, Betty Parrott. The “Merry Widows” had a lot of great times with their close circle of friend. They traveled together and played lots of bridge. After their careers as educators, these women knew how to enjoy retirement. My condolences to Diane and June.

  2. June,
After 50 years I can still see your Mom in the kitchen of your house in Lexington. She was always so sweet to me. I know this is a difficult time, but I’m thankful to have known her “once upon a time”.

  3. I can only emphasize with what Mac said, as my mom, Jerry Johnson, was also one of the “Merry Widows”… Enjoyed “dropping in” on their Holden Beach visits an Friday dinners in Lexington before bridge. So many fond memories. In my thoughts.

  4. Diane and June, I’m so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Betty was a wonderful person. I’ll never forget our GA days at Mt Pisgah Baptist Church and our trips to GA Camp at Fort Caswell with Mrs. Betty as one of our leaders. I have thought about the three of you so many times. The memories are precious!

  5. I had Mrs Hewett as a teacher at Lexington Middle School and she was a wonderful dear friend of my grandmother, Rachael Koonts. They had some fun beach trips together. Prayers of comfort and peace for all of the family.

  6. Sending my sincere condolences to the family. Mrs. Hewett was such a sweet lady and always had a wonderful smile to greet you.

  7. Betty was one of the first people I became acquainted with when I came to teach at LSH. We are lunch together most days in the teachers lounge, where the veteran teachers were quick to welcome a new member to their group. Betty always had an encouraging words and a funny story just when I needed it most. What a wonderful lady she was!
