Arden ~ Billie Sue Young Owenby, 69, of 200 Birch Lane, died Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at her residence.

Born in Haywood County, Mrs. Owenby was the daughter of the late L.A. and Finnie Pipes Young and was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Owenby is survived by her husband of 49 years, Narrell Owenby; her daughter, Jamie Owens of Asheville; three sons, Eddie Owenby, and his wife Debbie, of Fletcher, Tracy Owenby, and his wife Tonya, of Hendersonville, and Bobby Owenby, and his wife Sherry, of Easley, SC; a sister, Betty Collins of Hemet, CA; a brother, Lewis “Sonny” Young, and his wife Joyce, of Shippensburg, PA; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Fletcher First Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Roy W. Waldroup. Interment will follow in Calvary Episcopal Churchyard.

Pallbearers will be Stacy Young, Patrick Owens, Ryan, Dustin and Chris Owenby and Philip Creasman.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road where Mrs. Owenby will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Fletcher First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1658, Fletcher, NC 28732.
