Asheville ~ Billy Wilbur Rogers, 76, of 401 Turtle Creek Drive, died Monday, April 28, 2003, in a local hospital. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Rogers was a son of the late Cordie Bell Clark Rogers and George Daniel Rogers and also was preceded in death by a sister and brother. Mr. Rogers was an Army veteran of World War II and worked as a warehouseman for American Enka and BASF. Survivors include his wife, Mary Williams Rogers; a son, Wayne Rogers, and his wife Laura, of Fletcher; a daughter, Ramona Stevens, and her husband Lewis, of Arden; five grandchildren, Ronda McNeil, Renee Mercado, Andrea Rogers, Christa Noon and Dawn Stevens; three great-grandchildren, Rebekah Mercado, Alias Mercado and Beth Ann Noon and three sisters, Grace Early, Euphema Hawkins and Katy Sue Hyatt, all of Leicester. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. Interment will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the funeral home.

  3. Dear family, So sorry to hear about Bill’s death. I know the loss is hard to bear. Just remember that he is free from pain and grief and awaits you on the other side. Just keep the faith and one day we will all meet on the other side. Our family is getting smaller and smaller, there is only three of our immeidate family left now, Shirley, Irene and myself. It is never easy to give up our loved ones. Sorry I could not make it to the funeral home or the funeral, but prior obligations prevented it. I will be praying for you.
