Binnie Carolyn Fortune Mathus went home to be with our heavenly father at the age of 80 years on February 4, 2016.
Binnie, known to most of her family as "Nannie" was born on January 18, 1936, the daughter of Kemp and Margaret Fortune. Binnie graduated from Sand Hill School in 1954, and retired from Square D. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always happiest when surrounded by family with a big meal. Binnie was a strong willed, independent woman with a kind heart. She will forever be remembered for her love of family, flowers, and friends.
Binnie is preceded in death by her parents, Kemp and Margaret Fortune and her son, David Burnette Mathus. She is survived by her daughter, Terry Mathus Haynes and husband Larry; three grandchildren, Katrina Haynes, Heather Warren and husband Justin, and Kirsten Mathus; and three great-grandchildren including Jaylen Chitwood, Logan James and Adelynn Warren.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Pisgah View Memorial Park in Candler.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.

Worked with Binnie for many years at Square D. We had some great times. So sorry to hear of her passing. So many of our Square D family have gone to meet the Lord. Maybe someday we will all meet again.
