Bonnie Tipton Cordell, 65 of 119 North Turkey Creek Road, Leicester, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at her home. Mrs. Cordell was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Paul and Etta Flynn Tipton. She was the retired co-owner and operator of Fire Shield and was a member of Newfound Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Bill G. Cordell; three daughters, Glenda Smith of Denver, CO, Denise Morgan of Morganton, and Michelle Rogers of Leicester; one son Paul Cordell of Candler; one sister, Peggy Edwards of Winston-Salem, and four grandchildren. No services are planned. Memorials may be made to Eliada Home for Children, P O Box 16708 Asheville, NC 28806.

My brother, Wayne, and I were looking for our Aunt Elton Wright’s obit (Harold Dean’s mother)who died also on Mar. 10, and found the obit for Bonnie. We are saddened as we counted you both as our close friends during our growing up years. We regret we do not know her family, but send them our condolences as well.

    I was shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. Please share with your father how sorry I am. Your mom was such a sweet lady. I’ll never forget her famous sweet tea and her warm hospitality back in the St Genevieve days. We’re praying that you feel the arms of the Father around you during this time. Please keep in touch.
