Boyd Frank Lyda, 89, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022.

Mr. Lyda was born April 8, 1933, in Hendersonville, to the late John T. and Pearl Brown Lyda. He served our country with the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and he was a member of Groce United Methodist Church. Mr. Lyda was a retired long distance bus driver having worked with Trailways, Greyhound and numerous charter companies. After retirement, he worked security for Mission Hosptial.

His family include a daughter, Cheryl Lyda Swiger; sons, Daryl Lyda (Diane) and Jerry Lyda (Anita); grandchildren, Stacy Griffin, Devon Garnace, Danna Nickels and Tori Lyda; three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Doris Lyda Mauldin (Ronald). He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thurman, Ray and Ellis Lyda.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Edneyville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buncombe County Humane Society or to a Veteran’s organization of your choice.
