Resided in: Asheville, North Carolina

Brenda Josephine Lewis King, 71, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Mission Hospital.

Brenda was born in Washington, Missouri to the late Gilbert and Josephine Bueker Lewis. She was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Peirick, a half-sister, Gloria Reed, and a half-brother, Kenneth Lewis.

She specifically wanted to be remembered for “loved my husband and loved my son, was kind and forgiving and loved animals especially her dogs.” I wish for family and friends to know that I do not fear death itself. I think it is not the end, but a new beginning for me.

Brenda graduated from Washington High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Education from the University of Central Missouri.

Brenda was married to Douglas King on August 21, 1971; they were married 47 years. She was also a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Bellevue, Washington.

She is survived by her Husband, Douglas Reed King; one son Matthew Ryan King and his wife, Kristine of Sammamish, Washington; a granddaughter Katheryn King; five siblings, Bonnie Schulte, Gwendolyn Sieve and her husband, William, Leland Lewis and his wife Marilyn, Gary Lewis and his wife, Teal, and Deborah Olson and her husband Ron. She also leaves behind a lot of caring relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

A Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org, and/or your local Humane Society.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  7. Brenda, the sassiest petite fire cracker of a woman I will ever know. You were my dear friend and neighbor, we rated all the coffee shops in Redmond, you edited my first book, you always looked like a million bucks and it was always a joy to see you and Doug with your precious puppy Kaya. Thank you for being a blessing in my life. And may your passing truly be the start of a new and wonderful blessing, with the Lord.

  8. Thanks for all the good times in HS at Washington High School. Afterwards I kept up with you and your happenings through Doris (Soetebier) Grannemann. You infectious smile and upbeat self was a blessing to all of us who knew you. My deepest to your husband, and son and his family. Prayers and hugs, Joyce
