Fairview ~ Brenda Raye Owenby McAninch of Owenby Cove Road, Fairview died on Monday, June 8, 2009, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus.
She was born in Henderson County and was the daughter of Arthur Ray Owenby and Patsy Ruth Myers Owenby of Fairview. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Huskey, "Mama-laine".
Mrs. McAninch previously worked in the cafeteria at Fairview Elementary School and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fairview.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of 24 years, James Dean McAninch; two daughters, Amanda D. McAninch and Tonya Marlowe Smith and husband, Casey; a son, Travis B. Marlowe; three grandchildren, Chelsey and Haley Marlowe and Miranda McAninch; a sister, Joyce O. Mathies; and several nieces and nephews all of Fairview.
A funeral service will be held 7:30 PM on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Bob Ponder and Rev. Chris Reese officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:30 PM prior to the service on Wednesday.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dear James,Mandy,Travis & Tonya, My heart is breaking for all of you and for myself,what a dear precious friend Brenda has been to me for 35 years.I am so fortunate to have been a part of her life and family for all these years.I know it isn’t going to be easy for any of us to not have her around us anymore.We called each other at least 4 times a day.She was my sister I never had.She helped me get through losing my Mom and both my brothers.I don’t understand how I am suppose to grow old without her to keep me laughing,and she did know how to make you laugh.I feel so lost already without her.I believe she is at peace now.She isn’t sick anymore.We all know we will see her again someday.And that is what will get us all through this.My prayers are with all of you, Nanny & Paw May God Bless you and keep you strong.I love you with all my heart.

We can’t begin to understand the grief you are going through right now from this sudden loss. We know how important a mothers love is to her family and the warmth they bring into a house making it a home and we know each of you all shared a special bond with her. Take comfort in knowing that even though she is no longer with you she is waiting for you and you will one day hold her hand again in heaven. I’ve known Brenda since lunchroom days at Fairview Elementary. She always had a smile and pleasant words. The love for her children, Tonya and Travis, whom I taught then, was so strong. James is such a generous spirit and loving husband. We will all miss Brenda. Much sympathy to you and family. Know all is in God’s hands.
