Bud Smith, 89, of Asheville, died April 15, 2012.
A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Canie and Elsie Smith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Juanita S. Fijol, and a brother, Lawrence A. Smith.
Bud was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of VFW 891.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Crook Smith.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Dale Whitson and the Rev. Daniel Allen officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Buncombe County Veteran's Council Memorial Team.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Aunt Ruth, you and Uncle Bud had so many years and memories together. As I reflect back over the years, I never saw one without the other. And, I remember all the times I came and stayed with you all at your house, when I was small. You will be in our prayers and our thoughts always. We Love you, Joe and Susan
