Buddy Lewis Canipe, 86, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 21, 2021.
Mr. Canipe was born in Mitchell County to the late Luther and Jennie Canipe. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Canipe.
Buddy was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired as an Account Executive from the Asheville Citizen Times.
He was a long standing member of the First Baptist Church of Asheville, and was a devout Christian. He loved traveling, Tar Heel Basketball, and trading cars. In retirement he ran a produce stand at the farmer’s market called Bud’s produce and had a small greeting card business. He also volunteered his time with Make A Wish Foundation.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Conley Canipe; a son, Larry Canipe; a daughter, Jerrie McCracken (Steven McCrary) and a grandson, Michael McCracken (Jordon).
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
