Byrne Edward Heninger, age 87, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Byrne was the youngest son of the late Ernie and Alice Byrne Heninger.
Mr. Heninger was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked as a V.P. in Process Engineering in the printing industry. He was holder of eight patents while he was employed with Dittler Bros. in Atlanta. An entrepreneur, Byrne launched his own business in retirement- refurbishing DeLorean automobiles and designing, manufacturing, and selling improved parts for the model. He had a passion for automobiles and motorcycles, and enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500 Race annually with his family.
A life-long learner, Mr. Heninger held an MBA from the University of Chicago and Bachelors in Engineering from Carnegie University.
His greatest joy in life was family. Surviving is his devoted wife of 63 years, Marian Derrington Heninger; seven children, daughters Constance H. Fazio (Mark), Wendelin Heninger (Ken Leetz, Jr.), Linda H. Isaac (Bob), and Kimberly Heninger (Ron Nelson, deceased), and sons, Michael Heninger (Andrea), Ronald Heninger (Lou Ann), and Cary Heninger (Janet); seven grandchildren, Ian Isaac, Hannah Hackett, Madeline Leetz, Aaron Heninger, Monika Heninger, Ben Heninger, and Laura Fazio; and sister-in-law, Patricia Heninger.
The Heningers were residents of Gainesville, GA for 30 years, and moved recently to Asheville to be closer to their children.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by The Very Rev. Fr., Roger Arnsparger, V.E., on Tuesday, March 26 at 10 a.m., at The Basilica of St. Lawrence, 97 Haywood St., Asheville, NC 28801.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25 at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue. The Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to “American Pro-Life League”, www.all.org.

Dear Marion and Family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to Marian and family. Marian, Byrne and you were so much a part of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville, GA.
I think of all the daily masses, daily rosaries, pro-life events especially the National Life Chain Silent Protest held every first weekend in October that the two of you led and participated in.
Also, the many breakfasts at IHOP with Dan Peffer and others.
Byrne was also an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Lector and/or Altar Server and I bet, he did a little ushering too!.
May Byrne now rest in the arms of our Lord after hearing the Lord say, “Job well done my true and faithful servant.” Byrne finished his life dedicated to his Lord, his Father!
Marian, may the Lord give you his peace for the rest of your life!

Dearest Marian and Family, Prayers and Peace be with all of you. The news of your sorry has just reached us. I think I can realize your loss because i know how empty my world seemed when I heard of the passing of Byrne. It will be hard for all of us who knew him, but we can be glad it was our privilege to have come in contact as long as we did with such a great man. We shall always remember his kindness and cleverness. Fondly John and Mary Ann.
My special condolences to you all on the loss of your beloved Byrne….special love to Marian and Michael. He was such a nice gentleman and whenever I see a DeLorean auto…I always think of him.

He was such a faithful servant to God and beautiful witness of how much God was such an important part of his life. He will be missed. We will continue to pray for you Marian and your family.
