Carmen “Jim” Ray Bradley passed from this world Sunday, November 14, 2021 from our loving arms into the arms of His Lord at the age of 86. He was born June 22, 1935 to the late Vernon Roosevelt and Emma Owensby Bradley.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Hazel Fox Bradley, whom he loved with all his heart. He is now walking with her in the most beautiful fields in Heaven that sometimes he would talk to his family about. Also, he is predeceased by sister, Belva Howard Greene, brothers, Alvin Bradley, Troy Bradley, and Donald Bradley.

He is survived by three daughters whom he and Hazel Loved very much, Trenia McSwain, husband, Louis, Martha Horne, husband, Jeff and Gail Wright, husband, Bradley; grandchildren, Rachel Carter, Carmen Chambers, Payton Chambers, Kris Owen and Noah Cabe; Jim’s pride and joy, two great granddaughters; brother, Ronald Bradley and sisters, Elsie Ponders, Joyce Bradley, and Josie Thomas.

Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed small engine repair and spending time with family and friends. After working at Magnavox for twenty eight years, Jim retired.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, November 18, 2021 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road in Arden. Reverend Donald Hare will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Butler Addition of New Salem Cemetery.

Face coverings and social distancing are required for entry into the funeral home.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Hospice and Doctors for the care of our loved one. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Four Seasons Compassion For Life Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock NC 28731.

  3. What a wonderful father, husband and man! Although I didn’t get to meet every one of his grandchildren I heard so many great stories talking with Mr. Bradley. He always bragged about how wonderful his family was and was so proud of each and every one! Sorry I can’t make the services, but I’m glad to have been in his life. He gave me perspective, love and joy. May we rejoice in the celebration of his life and reunion with the Lord and his beloved wife. Sending love and prayers for comfort during this time 🙏 to a God who never fails.

  6. Jim was one of a kind, always ready to help anyone. We have known Jim for 60 plus years. He was a brother and best friend always.

    Jim loved his wife, his beautiful daughters, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly. He was always thrilled to receive a visit or call. He loved his brother and sisters, his wonderful neighbors, and cherished each and everyone over the years.

    We will miss Jim. He’s with the good Lord, his beautiful wife, and family.

  7. So sorry for your loss. We always looked forward to visiting with Uncle Jim and Aunt Hazel and have particularly fond memories of staying with them for a few weeks in 2007. They were lovely, generous, kind, wonderful people and are both greatly loved and missed. RIP, Jim.
