September 15, 1961 ~ December 31, 2025

Born in: Buncombe County, NC
Resided in: Black Mountain, NC

Carolyn Ann Hall Owenby, 64, of Black Mountain, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Margaret R. Pardee Hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Dorothy Pack Hall. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Sherman and Patty Rogers as well as a brother, Johnny Hall.

Carolyn was a God-fearing wife, mother, and beloved Nana whose life was defined by quiet joy and selfless love. Content in spirit and generous in heart, she consistently put the needs of others before her own. She never let anyone leave her presence without a gentle reminder, “Be careful, and remember Jesus is with you”, a simple phrase that reflected her deep faith and her desire to affirm, comfort, and reassure those she loved. Through both calm and storm, Carolyn lived as a reminder that Christ walks beside us in every season of life.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lewis Owenby; two daughters, Jenny Bramlett (Cody) of Knoxville, TN and Katie Lunsford (Justin) of Hickory, NC; a son, Lewis Owenby, II of Danville, KY as well as six grandchildren, Logan, Zoey, Davie, Ezekiel, Ronan and Penelope.

Carolyn’s family will have a private celebration of her life at a later date. Her family will be at the home for those who wish to visit them.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a contribution to a charity of your choice in Carolyn’s memory.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
