Carolyn Jane Roberts, 85, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020, at her home.
Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Jane was a daughter of the late Robert Frank and Annie Eliza Coleman Rogers. She was married to William F. “Bob” Roberts, who died in 2007, and was also preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Roberts.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory School of Nursing and devoted her career in nursing to Appalachian Hall and Mission/St. Joseph Hospital until her retirement in 1998. Upon retirement she continued as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Jane loved gardening and became a Master Gardener. She spent many hours in her garden, the church garden, and working in the Master Gardener’s many volunteer programs. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by a daughter, Frances A. Ball (Keith); sons, Joseph T. Roberts (Becky), John P. Roberts (Maria), Thomas A. Roberts (Robin), David A. Roberts, and daughter-in-law Peggy Roberts; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and sister, Sue Nelle Chenowith.
The Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa will officiate at a family graveside service Monday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 768 Asbury Road, Candler, NC 28715.

So sorry for the loss. Have good memories of her serving as school nurse at St. Joan of Arc back in the 60’s. Thoughts and prayers🙏❤️
I was fortunate to be able to attend more than one retreat with Jane. She was always good company
and I loved to listen to her words of wisdom.
We had been attending St. Joan of Arc for several years in the 70s. One Sunday, after a particularly “active” time with our baby during Mass, Jane approached us and asked “May I be his surrogate grandmother? I just love children.” Grandma Jane , 43 years later, is remembered with our love. We’ll miss her.
Jane came into our lives during the mid-70s. She knew blood relatives were hundreds of miles away, so one Sunday, after a particularly “active” time at Mass, Jane approached us and asked if she could be a surrogate grandmother to our children. That was 43 years ago. We’ll miss you Grandma Jane.
She remains in our hearts forever.
Iwill remember Jane for her smile, her courage. Even after her retirement from the hospital, jane was a long time volunteer .
She protected and nourished the most well loved Rose Garden at the old SJA church on Haywood Rd. I celebrate her home going in peace without pain.
I knew Ms. Jane from St. Joan of Arc Church in Candler – I would see her at Mass as long as she was able to attend, and greeted her many times as she happily worked in the entrance way garden. She was a fine lady, carrying herself with grace and dignity even when her heath began to fail. I hope her family finds some comfort in knowing how many parishioners admired and respected her. She and you will be in my prayers.
Our thoughts, and prayers, are with her family today and in the days to come.
I remember Jane from many years at St. Joan of Arc, at both the old and newer church. She was a lovely, delightful lady, always with a ready smile.

We met Jane 4 yrs ago when we moved here. I was always so impressed with her spunk & ever present smile . I’m only sorry I didn’t know her “back then ” , when we were both younger. Rest in peace ,sweet Jane. You will be missed!
