Born in:
Greenville, SC
Resided in:
Candler, NC
Carolyn Loretta Foster, 80, of Candler, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at the CarePartners Solace Center, surrounded by her children.
Carolyn was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Vluarie Taylor and was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Clifford Foster, son Donald Foster and son-in-law Ronnie Crawford.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris Meadows and husband Dean, Mary Crawford, Donna Pressley and husband Edward, and Deborah Beck; grandchildren, Jeffrey Meadows (Meghan), Jennifer Polston (Michael), David Meadows, Rhonda Crawford, Crystal Surrett, Ronald Crawford, Jr. (Lisa), Rebecca Cooper, Kimberly Ruppe (Jonathan), and Christopher and Brandon Beck. She also has 18 great-grandchildren with another due in March.
Mom loved spring and gardening and it’s exciting to know that she will have an amazing spring this year!
She didn’t have a lot of material things in life but she always sacrificed to provide the best she could. I think her greatest legacy will be how she loved her family unconditionally.
She didn’t have a great education or, by the world’s standards, wouldn’t be considered very sophisticated but she was very generous and loving. By God’s grace we hope to see her again.
A funeral service will be at 12:00 noon Friday, February 11, in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain after which she will be laid to rest with her husband, Clifford. The cemetery requires face masks in the chapel.
The family would like to thank all caregivers at Solace as well as all the many family and friends who have been praying for her.
Flowers and memorials may be sent to Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Presbyterian Home for Children, 80 Lake Eden Road. Black Mountain, NC 28711.

I love you so much Carolyn. Thank you for loving me as a daughter even though I was only a niece too you.You will always be with you.
Doris, Mary, Donna and Debbie, I’m sorry for the loss of your mom. Aunt Carolyn has been like a mother to me since I lost my mom in 1997, I loved her dearly as my mom. She is no longer in pain. Love you all , Ann Foster
I enjoyed talking with your mother. She had a love for all living things. She liked to talk and keep things tiddy. She will be fine now that she has crossed over. Plenty of beautiful plants and the ones that have gone before her. I love Mamaw Forster. We would often talk about sewing
Mom you were more than a mom to me. You were my best friend. I am glad you are no longer in pain but I miss you so much. I will always love you and will miss you. I really thought you had more time, you went so fast but I hope you are singing and having the best time in heaven. I know you will be looking down on your whole family and waiting to see each and everyone of us when it’s are time. I hope each and everyone of us will make you proud. I can not wait till spring every flower I see will remind me of you.
Carolyn was one of our favorite aunts. She was a “tell it like it is ” lady, an immaculate homemaker, great cook and always maintained an infectious sense of humor. She will be sorely missed but we are sure she and Clifford are celebrating a fantastic reunion.
