Fletcher – Carolyn Yvonne Gantt, 84, of Fletcher, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 surrounded by her family.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Lessie Dalton Wagner. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Ray Gantt, an infant daughter, Leigh Ann Gantt as well as a sister, Evelyn Roberts.

She devoted her life to raising her three children. She enjoyed working in her yard and taking care of her plants and playing with her puppy “Baxter”.

Yvonne worked for Avondale Mills and Cranston Print Works before retiring from the North Carolina Department of Transportation in 2009. She was a member of Arden First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Stewart (Jay) of Greeneville, TN and Raina Dyer (Don) of Fletcher; a son, Matt Gantt (Susan) of Ocala, FL; a sister, Becky Levi of Zirconia as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and Yvonne’s puppy, “Baxter”.

The family would like to thank the staff at Advent Health for the incredible care that they provided to her. A special thank you to her nurse, Roberta, for loving on her and singing to her as well as a thank you to the Henderson County EMS for being so kind during her transportation to the hospital.

A private burial will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park.

The family graciously asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Yvonne’s memory to Four Seasons Compassion for Life.

    I’m saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing. She was such an inspiration, a strong and elegant woman. I enjoyed talking with her, have a deep admiration for her. May all of you find comfort in knowing she is with our Lord and Savior.
