Dearest Kay & Wayne:
I loved your Mom as much as I did mine I will truly miss the many thoughtful conversations we had together, & especially the insightful letters we had the opportunity to share with one another over the years. Your Mom, like mine was a scratch cook and I still remember the smell of her carmelized cinnamon sugar toast she prepared for us all on those many crisp cool Asheville summer mornings.
Uncle Dan:
Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home all those hot humid Myrtle Beach summers and treating me like your son! Ebbie, John and Catharine are surely smiling down on you! I love you! Take care of yourself!
Kay

Please know that I send my love and sympathy to all of Catharine’s family.
I worked with her in the JC Penney Store on Battery Park Avenue a number of years. I enjoyed working with Catharine there. Sometimes during lunch she would tell me how she cooked numerous dishes and would give me the recipes. She was an excellent cook.
Also, often we would talk about her family and about how proud she was of them.
I was honored to call her my friend.

Robie, Travis, and Jodie. From a grandson’s vantage point who has lost a close grandparent (Charles C. Patterson) in 2005; I have experienced a similar loss. I credit my Papa to all of my accomplishments today for influencing me until he died. I know your Grandmother was very special to you all and will be missed greatly as so I miss my Papa.
