Catherine Evans

Catherine Ballard Evans, 74, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Evans was born in Asheville to the late Newton Henry Ballard and Bessie Sprouse Ballard. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, James and Billy Ballard and a sister, Helen Crawford.

Catherine was a graduate of T.C. Roberson, class of 1969. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved the ocean, her puppy and teaching her grandchildren how to bake cookies. She also loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed knitting.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Michael A. Evans; a son, M. Allen Evans, Jr. (Lorrie); a daughter, Jennifer Amann (Jason); and two grandchildren, Rebekah Amann and Daniel Amann.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 7, 2023 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A private interment will take place at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
